Volunteer Opportunities

Wake Teen Volun"teen" Positions

 

Wake Teen is grateful to the many volunteers who have helped us over the years to provide much needed services to the young men and women of Wake County.

 

Volunteer positions are open to people aged 18 and up.  Due to Wake Teen's commitment to patient confidentiality, we are not able to offer volunteer opportunities to current patients.  All volunteer applicants will be required to sign, understand, and abide by our confidentiality policy.  They must also provide references.

Health Fair Volunteer
Health fair volunteers represent Wake Teen at community events throughout Wake County. Most opportunities are available during late summer and early fall.

A health fair volunteer must be: friendly and outgoing, willing to learn about Wake Teen's services, reliable and punctual. S/he must also have: a positive attitude, reliable transport, the ability to move and lift up to 30lbs.

The availability of this position varies according to community demand. Summer and fall are our busiest times.

Administrative Assistant
Administrative assistants work with Wake Teen staff to organize short and long term administrative projects.  An administrative volunteer must be highly respectful of our patients' confidentiality, reliable and punctual, friendly, and have a positive attitude.

We are in need of front office support.  This volunteer role’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Answering Wake Teen phones
  • Making patient appointments
  • Greeting patients
  • Assisting patients with filling out paperwork
  • Filing
  • Faxing
  • Copying
Development Department Volunteer

Development Department:

  • Generating and mailing thank you notes
  • Newsletter design
  • Writing newsletter articles
  • Assisting with bulk mailings
  • Research
  • Database management – Needs to be proficient in Microsoft Access and able to refine program as needed
  • Website maintenance
  • Special Events – include, but are not limited to the following activities:
    • Mailings
    • Writing and mailing sponsorship and in-kind donation letters
    • Event set-up/tear down
    • Event operations including registration, silent and live auction set-up, auction checkout
File Archival Recorder

This role will require the volunteer to create an excel spreadsheet to track old files that we are submitting for archival.

Electronic Medical Billing Volunteer

Electronic Medical Billing Volunteer

This role calls for someone who has previously worked in this type of position and is proficient in the program format.
